Double Rotary Triumph for Kew House

Kekw House junior team Emma H, Neha G and Lily S

April 28, 2026

It’s that time of the year again where the Rotarians call for the voices of the future to express themselves at the annual Rotary Public Speaking Competition. Looking to make their mark in the world of Public Speaking and Debate, Kew House fielded two strong teams across the junior and senior levels.

At the Junior level, Kew House enjoyed immense success, looking to win the Borough final and progress into the District Final. The team was made up of Emma H, Neha G and Lily S, delivering professionalism, wonderful rhetoric and charisma as they debated whether Shakespeare still serves a purpose for education in schools. It was the Clash of the Titans: perfectionism vs passion, and the real winners were the audience, privileged to witness such a display of oratory ability, intellect and forward thinking. In the end the Kew House Junior team won the event and can proudly label themselves as Borough Champions as they move on to the District Final. While small in stature, this team certainly showed they were big in character and voice.

Our Senior team was made up of Sienna M, Marielena Pand Monty A: debating the motion Eradicating Competition would Better Society. Obstacles were thrown our way with delays on the trains for the returning Year 12 Geography Field Trip meaning our opposition speaker, Monty, had to be brought in virtually through Teams to perform. This did not stop us. Our enticing topic with Marielena’s beautifully empowering speech and raw emotion, sandwiched by Monty’s audacious and energised counter and Sienna’s inspiring conclusion truly engaged the audience. Kew House were against some stalwarts in the public speaking world, competing against last year’s national semi-finalists. Kew House were impeccable and held their own to take the competition by storm being announced Borough Champions along with our junior team.
