Fiachra Garvey Returns to St Nicholas Church


Internationally acclaimed pianist to perform Beethoven and Rachmaninov

St Nicholas Church in Chiswick will host a piano recital by award-winning Irish pianist Fiachra Garvey on Sunday 18 January at 3pm, with all profits supporting emerging young musicians at the church.

Mr Garvey, born in Wicklow has performed in major venues across Europe including Wigmore Hall and the Fazioli Auditorium. He is a former first-prize winner of the Jaques Samuel Competition in London and has been recognised by competitions in Dublin, Prague and Collioure. The National Concert Hall named him its “Rising Star” in 2011, leading to a series of concerto and solo debuts.

His concerto appearances include performances with the Janáček Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Irish Chamber Orchestra and others, working with conductors such as John Wilson, Theodore Kuchar and Ruth Reinhardt. He has recorded for the BBC, RTÉ and the EBU, and has released two solo albums, including a live recording from Wigmore Hall.

He is also the founder and artistic director of the West Wicklow Chamber Music Festival and Classical Vauxhall. Away from the concert stage, he enjoys returning home to help on his family farm.
