Tarantella Restaurant on Elliott Road Has Closed

Tarantella, the popular neighbourhood Italian on Elliott Road, has closed its doors after nearly two decades in Chiswick. The compact pizza-and-pasta restaurant, known for baking its own bread and for its warm, unfussy atmosphere, had been a fixture since 2007.
The restaurant, which surprisingly could squeeze in 35 cover, was opened by three friends from southern Italy, replacing another Italian, That’s Amore. Over the years Tarantella built a loyal following, its small dining room split over two levels often packed with regulars.
A brief attempt to expand the brand with a sister restaurant on Acton High Street lasted only a short time, but the Chiswick original remained a steady presence.
The current owners, Luciana Palmieri and her husband Mark Smith, have now moved on to a new venture: Sudi, a restaurant on Kew Road inspired by the flavours of Puglia, the region Luciana left when she moved to London more than a decade ago. Sudi will be olive-themed, complete with an olive ‑oil sommelier, and aims to showcase the breadth of Puglian cuisine.
