For sale at open day in September

Genourous artists are donating their work to raise money for a Southall animal shelter.

The RSPCA’s Southall Cattery will be selling paintings, prints, drawings and cards at its annual open day on Sat 08 Sept.

All money raised will be used to help the many stray and abandoned cats the centre looks after and re-homes.

Many of the donations are on a feline theme, including signed copies of an illustrated children’s book by Hampton-based artist Janet Weight Reed, called Christeve the Cat Finds Her Home.

Other works on sale include beautiful watercolours of cats by professional artists Julia Dennis, from East Sheen, and Anna Tikhomirova, who lives in Thames Ditton.

The open day at the cattery, in Burket Close, Norwood Green, will be held from 11am-3pm. Entry fee is 50p or a tin of cat food.

There will also be stalls selling bric-a-brac, cakes, soft toys and books, as well as activities for children such as face-painting.

In addition visitors will also be able to view the many cats and kittens looking for loving homes.

Between January and July this year the cattery took in 375 moggies and found homes for 282 of them.

The centre currently has 108 animals, of which two thirds are kittens.

From January-July this year the centre’s clinic, which provides low-cost veterinary care to those on benefits or low incomes, has treated over 1,300 animals.

Loving homes are desperately needed for the many cats at the centre and anyone interested in adopting a moggie can visit between 11am-4.30pm on any day except Wednesday.

The cattery can also be contacted on 0300 1230746.
