The MiraBan UK Film Awards (MUFA) return for their sixth edition at Ealing Picturehouse on 13–14 December. The festival aims to showcase bold, untold stories from emerging filmmakers, with a strong focus on local talent and community participation.

MUFA is a London-based, BFI Film Fund–supported festival dedicated to diversity in auteur cinema. As a member of Film Hub London, it champions under-represented, independent voices and provides a vital platform for new talent. Listed in the British Council Festival Directory, the event is curated by MiraBan, an independent UK platform committed to nurturing creative culture and community arts engagement.

The choice of Ealing is no coincidence. With its long-standing film heritage, the hugely successful Ealing Film Festival and the historic Ealing Studios, the town is a natural fit for a festival dedicated to cinematic diversity and storytelling. MUFA’s return follows a previously sold-out edition, reinforcing its aim to establish a recurring cultural presence in the area.

The programme will include screenings of independent films, industry talks, and community-focused sessions. An Industry Film Forum will explore arts access, youth engagement, and creative pathways within West London’s cultural landscape, aligning closely with Ealing’s identity as a hub of creativity.

Adding to the sense of occasion, the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Anthony Kelly, will attend to present the Best UK Feature and Best UK Short awards, continuing a valued annual tradition. Festival founder Jay Manari and host Michael Jobity will also be present, guiding audiences through two days of screenings and discussions.

MUFA is designed as a springboard for independent filmmakers, whether newcomers or seasoned creators. Screenings, panel discussions, and Q&As with industry professionals will provide opportunities to learn, network, and grow. The festival also offers career pathways, with partnerships supporting independent short films and creating opportunities for cast and crew.

Students are especially encouraged to attend, with a two-day pass available for just £16.
