Marshals are essential to make the event run smoothly
August 28, 2025
The Ealing Half Marathon is set to return on Sunday 28 September, bringing thousands of runners to the borough’s streets for the annual 13.1-mile race. Since its launch in 2012, the event has become a well-established fixture in the UK running calendar and is supported by a large network of local volunteers.
Volunteers play a central role in the smooth running of the event, helping to marshal the route, manage water stations, oversee bag drop facilities, and staff the race village in Lammas Park. Most volunteers are residents of the borough, contributing to the community-led atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the race.
Organisers are currently seeking around 700 volunteers, with nearly 300 places still to be filled. Race director Sandra Courtney expressed appreciation for the ongoing support from the community, describing the event as a celebration of local spirit and collaboration. She noted that volunteers often return year after year and are welcome to participate in groups with family, friends, or colleagues.
Those who volunteer will receive a complimentary breakfast roll and drink on the day, entry into a prize draw, and a free race place for the 2026 Ealing Half Marathon. Prizes in the draw include vouchers from Up & Running, a bottle of champagne, and a Sunday Carvery voucher for The Castle Inn.
The Ealing Half Marathon is organised by the charity We Run Ealing, which also introduced an ultra marathon earlier this year. The event continues to grow in scale and ambition, with organisers encouraging residents to get involved whether or not they plan to run.
Further details and volunteer registration are available on the Ealing Half Marathon website.
Lead charities for the 2025 event include Macmillan Cancer Support, Meadow House Hospice, and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
The race begins at 9am from Walpole Park.
