Station features uninterrupted tunes spanning the forties to the eighties

Staff and residents help celebrate the launch of the new radio station

Residents at St David’s Care Home in Ealing joined the Music for Dementia team this week to celebrate the launch of its new m4dRADIO service on DAB digital radio, part of a South and West London tour introducing the free station to care homes and community groups.

The visit gave residents the chance to enjoy uninterrupted music together and explore a resource designed specifically for people living with dementia. Unlike traditional radio, m4dRADIO features no adverts, presenters or news bulletins—just continuous music across themed channels spanning the 1940s to the 1980s, plus a Mix channel of familiar favourites.

For St David’s activities team, the simplicity and range of the service offer new ways to bring residents’ individual musical tastes into daily life.

Amy Shackleton, CEO of Music for Dementia, said, “We were delighted to team up with Gold Care Homes with our m4dRADIO DAB launch campaign. Their residents and staff gave us a great reception. It was particularly wonderful chatting to residents about their favourite songs.”

Satinder Singh, Home Manager at St David’s, added, “We really enjoyed welcoming the Music for Dementia team and seeing our residents get involved. What appealed to us is the choice and how easy it is to use. Music is personal, and having another free resource gives us more opportunities to incorporate those choices into life at St David’s.”

Music already plays a central role in the home’s activities—from live entertainment and parties to sing-along sessions—and the new station adds another way for residents to connect through shared listening.

St David’s Care Home provides residential and nursing care, supporting residents to maintain independence and stay connected with family, friends and the local community. The home is part of Gold Care Homes, founded in 1999 by brothers Ravi and Sukhi Gidar.
