HS2 - What Action Has Been Taken?


Cllr Bassam Mahfouz says:

In the last twelve months we have been doing the following things in order to raise the concerns of our residents:

- Cllr Mahfouz appearance on BBC News explaining our position on HS2 in July 2011
- Input to and assisted the West London Waste Authority in their responses
- Submitted full Council response on scheme on 5th July 2011 following a series of meetings between councillors of all parties and HS2
- Discussed HS2 at the WestTrans meetings that are made up of representatives of the 6 West London Authorities
- Provided briefing notes and updates to Ward Forums along the proposed route
- Obtained a full list (in confidence) of all properties written to who are marked as "At Risk" or "Directly Affected"
- Placed articles on HS2 in both the summer and autumn 2011 editions of Around Ealing
- Members consultation meeting - 30th March 2011
- HS2 Consultation event - Greenford Hall - 7th April 2011
- Meeting with HS2 officers on Old Oak Common - 19th April 2011
- HS2 Consultation event - 5th May 2011
- HS2 breakfast meeting - 6th May 2011
- HS2 meeting with TfL - 6th May 2011
- Ealing Acton Transport Action Group - 14th July 2011 and 12th January 2012
- Met twice with the Chairman of HS2 limited
- sent and received over 200 emails with Councillors and external stakeholders and residents
- set up a page on the Council's website to provide residents with the latest information on the project
- Meeting with HS2 Officers - 30th January 2012
- Attended Planning Forum on 2nd March 2012
- Public meetings with residents groups against HS2
- Organised a petition and spoken to residents in affected areas about impact and concerns
- Submitted a request to meet with Justine Greening MP (Minister for Transport)
- Met with Maria Eagle MP (Shadow Cabinet Member for Transport) 13th March 2012,
- Met with HS2 engineers on 14th March 2012
- Attended/ing two Community Forums on 19th and 21st March 2012 and gave them lists of residents associations to invite to these meetings to ensure wide representation
