Wandsworth Council has expanded its “7 rings, 7 days” guarantee, adding three new services to the fast-response scheme after feedback from residents. From now on, reports of faulty street lights, fly-posting and hazardous broken pavements will all be fixed within a week, extending the council’s promise to deal swiftly with the issues that most affect the look and feel of local streets.

The guarantee, launched last year, was designed to make it easier for people to contact the council and to ensure that repairs happen quickly once problems are reported. Calls to the dedicated 020 8871 6000 number are answered by a member of staff within seven rings, while residents can also use the email address hello@wandsworth.gov.uk to raise concerns. The council says the aim is to pair good customer service with rapid action on the ground.

Until now, the scheme has covered graffiti, broken street signs and dangerous potholes, all of which the council has pledged to fix within seven days. The new additions mean a wider range of common street-level issues will now be dealt with under the same guarantee. A digital dashboard tracks weekly performance and publishes monthly updates as the council works toward a 100 per cent success rate.

Since the scheme began, Wandsworth has removed all reported graffiti and repaired every dangerous pothole within the seven-day window. It has also replaced 88 per cent of broken street signs on time, with heritage signs — some more than 150 years old — requiring more specialist care. The council says 84 per cent of calls to the dedicated phone line have been answered within seven rings.

The guarantee also includes two free bulky-waste collections per household each year, saving residents £48 annually. Each collection can include up to four large items, such as mattresses, white goods or furniture. The allowance has just renewed, meaning households can book their free collections now.

Council leader Simon Hogg said the expansion of the scheme reflects the administration’s commitment to listening to residents and responding to what matters most to them. “Residents are at the heart of everything we do. We are always looking for ways to improve and make things easier for people,” he said. “We’re taking care of the things that matter to you, so that together we can keep Wandsworth special. We charge the lowest Council Tax in the country and put sound financial management at the heart of everything we do, delivering excellent services while maintaining strong value for money.”
